In an authentic creative process, one gets beyond oneself, enters the present moment, and is taken to another realm. It is a field beyond time and space. I interpret the gap as that place which is full of possibilities; where you lose your personality, you lose yourself. It can be a bridge from one field/dimension to another, a kind of portal.
Cynthia Fusillo on her work
Here, I present some manifestations of nothingness to matter.
In my visual world of materialism, using Nature, objects, forms the gap takes on an important role and becomes a space for imaginings, listening, meditating; an actual blackness or negative space to project onto, create a narrative or leave alone. It can hold the positive spaces together or be an area that allows the eye to rest before continuing on its journey of discovery of the work.
In choosing work for this theme, ”Mind the Gap”, my approach was both literal and metaphorical.
Pull in the black space
Disappear into Nothing
It all begins here
