Barbara Tong is a London-based  mixed media artist originally from Hong Kong. She began her career learning flower design and was awarded the Japan Flower Design Award and Sachio Yoshioka Award in 2006. After graduating with a BFA from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2011, she has developed a sculptural and installation practice, inspired both by the ephemeral nature of her botanical materials and her interest in travel. She writes, ““My inspirations come from the environment and the people I meet…Each place is unique and we all respond so differently…. I consider it a collaboration between me, the space I am in and the objects around, both tangible and intangible – an organic dialogue between us. It is about an exploration of the relationship, the connection and the contradiction between the imaginary/ our inner body space and the space around us; how the two mirror and affect each other.”
