The pandemic continues in several countries: some in the first wave, others in the second wave and we do not know what is yet to come. Insecurity, doubts, concerns. I had very close people who left for Covid 19, this cruel virus that distances us from life and death; it does not give us an opportunity to say goodbye, to watch over our dead and see them one last time. We hope that vaccines happen as soon as possible and that the scientific communities can give us a diagnosis on the subject. And, we don’t know when a post-pandemic will be and what our procedure is. According to information from the community itself, even if the vaccine is ready and available to the population (which we also do not know), they will take about a year and a half to have a position and clarify whether the vaccine will be final or not; if we will need other doses.

And the pandemic has not yet passed, although people are ignoring it and behaving as if nothing has happened. Here in my city, in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais / Brazil, stores and malls are opening with some limits and guidelines. Cinemas, concerts and theaters are still suspended for the public. Only virtually and thankfully that we can count on technology and have that possibility …

Never has art and culture been so necessary. I dedicate myself in that quarantine, to rediscover myself as an artist, researching other techniques, other subjects that allow me to create something.

Here I post two poems by the author Bilah Bernardes, poems that are also part of my project Urban Aspects – Visual arts and poetry, started in 2005.

In the poem Capital Humanizada, the author quotes “BH”, referring to the city of Belo Horizonte, which is the capital of the State of Minas Gerais and refers to “mineiros”, people born in the State of Minas Gerais. I think your poem reflects what it is like to live in large urban centers and how we want the city to be more humanized, if possible, that we can maintain some customs and procedures typical of rural cities, like saying good morning, asking about family, friends, etc.

A pandemia continua em vários países: alguns em primeira onda outros em segunda onda e não sabemos o que ainda está por vir. Insegurança, dúvidas, preocupações. Eu tive pessoas muito próximas que se foram pelo Covid 19, esse vírus cruel que nos distancia na vida e na morte; não nos dá oportunidade de despedida, de velar pelos nossos mortos e vê-los uma última vez. Esperamos que as vacinas aconteçam o mais breve possível e que as comunidades científicas possam nos dar um diagnóstico sobre o assunto. E, não sabemos quando será uma pós pandemia e qual o nosso procedimento. Segundo informação da própria comunidade, mesmo a vacina ficando pronta e ao alcance da população (o que também não sabemos), eles levarão mais ou menos um ano e meio para ter um posicionamento e um esclarecimento sobre se a vacina será definitiva ou não; se precisaremos de outras doses.

E a pandemia ainda não passou, embora pessoas estejam ignorando e se comportando como se nada tivesse acontecido. Aqui na minha cidade, em Belo Horizonte, capital de Minas Gerais / Brasil, lojas e shoppings estão abrindo com alguns limites e orientações. Cinemas, shows e teatros ainda estão suspensos para o público. Apenas virtualmente e ainda bem que podemos contar com a tecnologia e termos essa possibilidade …

Nunca a arte e a cultura foram tão necessárias. Me dedico nessa quarentena, a me redescobrir enquanto artista, pesquisando outras técnicas, outros assuntos que me possibilitam alguma criação.

Posto aqui dois poemas da autora Bilah Bernardes, poemas esses que também fazem parte do meu projeto Aspectos Urbanos – Artes visuais e poesia, iniciado em 2005.

No poema Capital Humanizada, a autora cita “BH”, referindo-se à cidade de Belo Horizonte que é capital do Estado de Minas Gerais e refere-se a “mineiros”, pessoas nascidas no Estado de Minas Gerais. Acho que seu poema traduz como é viver nos grandes centros urbanos e como desejamos que a cidade seja mais humanizada, se possível, que possamos manter alguns costumes e procedimentos típicos das cidades interioranas, como dar bom dia, perguntar sobre a família, os amigos, etc.
