It all started with long walks through the courtyards of St. Petersburg. The old part of the city is a maze of houses, and neighborhoods often consist of small courtyards. Passing through them, you can cross from one street to another. The courtyard is the four walls of the house and the asphalt on the ground. The houses in St. Petersburg were built high, so that the courtyards are called “wells”. 

The city is actually quite “green”, there are many parks and squares. But we suggest paying attention to single trees that have grown in spite of everything in the yards-wells. They are admirable.

We want to look at the city from their point of view.: How are they living in stone sacks? What are they like? What types of trees grow in St. Petersburg courtyards?
