Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?

Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists? (in first after war decades in Soviet Union) – this is one of the questions that we are seeking the answer to. In this short episode, Alexander Traugot speaks of his mother, Vera Janova, and reveals one of the reasons.

In our research, we refer to two inspiring women artists: Tatjana Kerner and Marianna Basmanova. Their works are not well known. Tatjana Kerner died young, and Marianna Basmanova has always worked in illustration for children books. Their professional paths are quite different, if not to say opposite, that is why it is so exiting to discuss and compare them.
