My name is Elizaveta Ostapenko
I’m a Russian artist based in my little room in Hamburg
at the covid-19 times
I’m sending you a big online hug from Germany
and hope you are all well and healthy
and do not stress too much about the today’s situation
I want to share with you some of the work I’m doing
during the isolation
And please do send me your comments and thoughts
Otherwise we all can get crazy
sitting at our homes
But first let me show you the projects I did before
so you can have a general idea
about my practice
or just say hello
This is my photo
and a series of paintings
which are based on the street found objects
such as posters and labels
These are some towers

This is the biggest painting I’ve done
It’s two by three meters
And shows the location from film
I made with Anastasia Prahova

Hi, Liza!
First of all, please let me give you a compliment on the layout of the post. It looks amazing.
I like how you capture those urban motifs and transform them into paintings. It is fascinating what “cultural layer” is kept on the walls, the roads, the trash containers. And Hamburg has definitely a lot to offer in that sense.
Is the film you’ve made with Anastasia available online? Would be great to see it.
Also, what kind of paper did you use for the tower drawings? I like the “raw” edge, looks handmade.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Hamburg definitely has a lot of inspiring sites to offer and I’m actually working on a painting series based on its architecture right now. I will make a post about it in a few days. Would love to hear your opinion about it 🙂
For those tower paintings, I used colour paper for pastels and just ripped a large sheet off to match the size. That’s why the edges look like this.
